New Google Update, New Capcut Graphic Design Features & X Teases Subscription For All Users

Google Rolls Helpful Content Update

Google is rolling out an update to its “helpful content” system. The changes target sites that have unrelated content on sub-domains or sub-folders, so if you have a content farm on a sub-domain, it might be time to turn that off before it starts affecting your main content rankings. Google also updated some of the language to be more AI friendly to allow human-reviewed AI-produced content to rank better.

Capcut Adds New Graphic Design Features

CapCut – Bytedance’s app for video editing – is adding graphic design capabilities in a move that puts Canva squarely in the cross-hairs. Gen Z creators on TikTok and YouTube are already big users of CapCut and the addition of graphic design could draw creators away from Canva – the most popular online graphic editing software – and it could foreshadow a potential move by TikTok to do more with static images.

X Teases Subscription Fees For All Users

X continues to grapple with revenue. The platform announced a partnership with Google to integrate X inventory into Google Ads Manager, and Musk announced yesterday that X will begin charging subscription fees for all users. It could all be much ado about nothing, however, as brands can still exclude X inventory using Google’s site exclusion tools, and Musk has a history of announcing changes that never come to pass across all his companies.
